Selected by the City of Hoboken, NJ, To Manage Four Municipal Parking Garages

11/09/2022

Hartford, CT – November 9, 2022, The City of Hoboken, New Jersey has selected LAZ Parking to manage four municipal parking garages under the oversight of the Hoboken Parking Utility (HPU), beginning Nov. 7, 2022. Three of the garages are close to the Hoboken Terminal and the fourth – Midtown Garage – is near Hoboken University Medical Center. All of the garages feature e-validation, parking guidance systems, and other state-of-the-art parking technology from TIBA Parking Systems, an industry leader in hardware, software, and cloud-based parking products.

“We are excited and honored to have been selected by the City of Hoboken to manage day-to-day operations at these four parking garages,” said Jeff Sanders, LAZ Parking’s Regional Vice President for New York and New Jersey. “We anticipate a great partnership with HPU and TIBA that will result in an exceptional experience for every guest who chooses to park in one of these facilities.”

Hoboken is the latest in a growing list of government clients contracting with LAZ to provide parking and transportation services. LAZ partners with municipalities and government entities throughout the country to manage, lease or privatize parking projects, provide consulting services and streamline parking operations. LAZ also operates hundreds of thousands of parking spaces for government entities, from large and complex public garages and surface lots to some of the biggest on-street parking systems in the world.

"We are so pleased about this opportunity with the City of Hoboken and appreciate the trust they have placed in LAZ to manage operations at these four important municipal parking facilities,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of LAZ Parking. "LAZ has worked hard to establish a reputation for providing the highest level of service to clients and customers, and this partnership is an acknowledgment of that commitment."

The TIBA Parking System upgrades installed by HPU include license plate recognition cameras, an online reservation platform, parking guidance system, touchless payment capability, and e-validation, an online validation system giving merchants the ability to purchase, activate, and track discount parking validations for customers. Businesses signing up for the service will receive discounted rates.

"In addition to enhancing the customer experience, these industry-specific technologies generate increased revenue for our clients,” said Nicholas Morris, Senior Director of Business Development at LAZ.

LAZ is about so much more than parking cars, added Omar Perera, a LAZ Parking General Manager overseeing operations at the Hoboken garages.

“Along with the tech-enabled solutions, we design and implement creative and competitive marketing campaigns to increase parking volume and revenue for clients,” he said. “We also offer high-end customer service programs catering to our parkers and keeping them loyal to the parking products we provide."
